THE SHEPHERD’S EVENING CALL

JUST LIKE GEM HID IN SOD
I WAS LOST IN THE SECTS
IN VAIN I STRUGGLED AND FOUGHT
TO PREVAIL ‘GAINST SIN’S EFFECTS
WITH TOW’RING HOPE ‘GAINST HOPE
FOR LONE FAITH TO HOLD OUT
IN A CLOUDY AND DARK GLOBE
WHERE OLD TRUTH iS SOLD OUT

AT EYE’S TWINKLE SHEPHERD’S LIGHT
DISCOVERED MY GRIMY FACE
RAYS WHICH UNCOVERED MY PLIGHT
GRACE WHICH RECOVERED MY PLACE
AMIDST WOLFISH SHEEP FOLD
COMES HIS CALL TO HIS GEM
COME FROM WITHIN THEIR MOLD
COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM

HOW HOSTS OF HEAVEN REJOICE
THAT HE’S BROUGHT ME OUT
THAT I RECOGNIZE HIS VOICE
A SWEET COMMANDING SHOUT
IN THE APPLE OF HIS EYE
WE WALK IN EVENING LIGHT
WATCHING SIGNS IN HEAVEN’S SKY
SIGNS THAT IT’LL SOON BE NIGHT

THIS GOOD SHEPERD’S ALL OUT
HIS DEAR LOST SHEEP TO SEEK
SHEEP SCATTERED AND WORN OUT
SKY BLEAK FLOCK SLEEK YET WEAK
ALL LIKE SHEEP DID GO ASTRAY
IN A CLOUDY AND DARK DAY
NOW HIS OWN HAVE COME TO STAY
AND FOLLOW HIM ALL THE WAY

It’s just like yesterday!

Life is a tale.
Its end is somewhat far-fetched,
Its author a bit humorous,
And its readers always forgetful;
How did yesterday’s fears fade?
How was today’s joy conceived?
How will tomorrow’s hopes fare?
Who else will know but the writer?
In all,
We are left to wonder and ponder,
Seeing that today’s news
Will become tomorrow’s history;
It’s our prayer that it will be
A happy ending;
Amen.

Undeserved love

Looking down from this old cradle
I cry as much as I'm able
I set thy bed on fire
To get my heart desire

And thou wilt always be there
To cuddle snag with tender care
I scarce can take in the bore
For I'm needing something more

That thang thing in yonder mud
Where yon kids do chew the cud
Not this fluid pressed down the gland
Nor the cuddle with the hand

Try I did to leave sweet home
Till I got lost here in Rome
How is it that still I see
This great love thou hast for me
